Zimbabwe born and London based designer, Tawanda Chiweshe, is in a coveted position that most kids that play and work in the world of design would want to be in. Having graduated from Central Saint Martins and armed with a couple of internships under his belt, he found himself working as a design consultant for Virgil Abloh.

While it’s easy to get caught up in the hype and the fervor that comes with working with someone that is adored by so many young people, Tawanda has chosen to focus on the work, keeping a low social media profile and developing personal projects that will help define his design career.  In our conversation that took place at the Barbican centre in London, a week after we met briefly in Paris, Tawanda broke down his design journey, his creative process, his thoughts on what good product is and the importance of participation.
